Dear Pleasant Valley Families,

Welcome to another great school year at Pleasant Valley. Our wonderful PV community is comprised of an incredibly talented staff, a very strong and involved PTA, and supportive families! We look forward to working together to provide an outstanding education to all of our students.

This year Pleasant Valley is embracing the Do Good, Be Kind initiative. As a community we will discuss what it means to “be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and be kind to the world around you”.  We are committed to putting our words into ACTION! We also want to ensure that EVERYONE feels that they belong and are a vital part of the vibrant PV community.

In terms of instruction, we will continue our work with Marin County’s P5 initiative, developing our Culture of Caring with a focus on Equity, and we will continue to use data analysis to move our practice forward. Our focus this year will be on math and project-based learning, integrating science, social studies and technology in our instruction. Our 4th and 5th graders are participating in the district’s 1:World initiative with chromebooks for all students. Several of our teachers are leaders and coaches in the district wide implementation of Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing programs and they are skilled in promoting outstanding readers and writers. NUSD’s Graduate Profile and the 6 C’s of collaboration, communication, critical thinking, character, conscientious learner and cultural competence are embedded into everything we do to ensure that ALL of our students develop the skills necessary to be college and career ready…  There are lots of great things happening at PV!

So much of what we do at PV is supported by our powerful PTA. PTA funds essentially every aspect of our program, including Academic Specialists, technology, yard supervisors, social emotional programs, online subscriptions, Zumba in Motion, art programs, field trips and classroom materials, library and classroom books, and more! Please be sure to support their fundraising efforts with your time, talent and treasue, and become a member today!

It is a gift and an honor to be a part of such a thriving, generous and loving community, and I look forward to building relationships with you and your child(ren). There will be several Principal Coffees held throughout the year and they provide a wonderful opportunity to have discussions with parents in a more informal setting. Please check the school calendar for more details and consider joining me in the library.

Sincerely,

Dana Sadan
