As the school year comes to an end, this is usually a time of big celebrations for our 5th grade students. Our Promotion ceremony provides a time to reminisce and glance back at the campus where most of these students have spent six years of their lives. In these last days teachers, as well as yard supervisors, office staff and other support staff usually find a moment to check in with students they have come to care about in their time at PV. Educating the youngest members of our community is a privilege and it is our joy to watch these kids grow into preteens, ready to take on middle school and all the opportunities it offers.  All of our Pleasant Valley 5th Grade Classes are special to us.

But this year is different.

No one can deny that 2020 has presented us with greater challenges all around. Our 5th graders have risen to that challenge with determination, humor and optimism that light the way for many of us. We are incredibly proud of these students. Though it may seem strange to drive through the Promotion ceremony and the last days of school might feel incomplete, we are confident that our 5th graders are ready for whatever lies ahead.

To the Pleasant Valley 5th grade Class of 2020: The future is still bright because you are in it! And remember – Once an Eagle; always an Eagle.   You will always have a  safe place to land here at your very first “home away from home,” so come back anytime to update us on your latest adventures.

With love and hope,

The Pleasant Valley Staff
