A new survey will be administered to the entire NUSD community in a few weeks. NUSD has hired YouthTruth, a nonprofit organization whose student survey is nationally recognized and has been used in hundreds of schools and districts across the county, to develop the survey. The survey is completely anonymous, research-based, valid and reliable. It will provide important information about our school climate and school effectiveness which can then be used to help us determine needs and goals. Until now, every school has developed and administered its own survey. This year every school will administer the same survey, and use the services of a competent, reputable organization to develop the survey rather than developing our own. Your anonymous feedback is extremely important and valuable and will help the district with planning and budget purposes as well as help us determine school goals for 2018-19.

The survey window is Jan 22-Feb 2nd.

The goal is to have 100% participation from 3rd-5th grade students, staff (classified AND certificated) and families. A minimum participation rate of 75% is crucial.

You will be given a confidential login code that will not be associated with you at any point in the data analysis or data reporting process. When taking the survey, if you write any comments in the survey, please don’t include your name or anything else that might identify you. Your responses will be combined with the responses of peers before being shared back with our school and district leadership. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. If you don’t finish the survey in one sitting, you may use your login code to sign back in and pick up where you left off. If you don’t feel comfortable answering a question, you may skip that question.

Login codes will be printed on cards to be used for students and staff.

Students: Michelle Stephens will help with the administration of the survey to students on Jan 22-24, and will develop a schedule for it. We will continue to administer the survey to students the following week as needed.

Staff: We have a staff meeting on Wednesday, Jan 24. We may use the last 20 minutes of the meeting for teachers to take the survey. Chromebook stations will  be set up in the staff lounge so that all classified personnel can complete the survey as well.

Parents will receive information about the survey in multiple ways (PV Views, Konstella, Constant Contact, phone message, principal letter) and we will make posters to remind people to participate in it.  Teachers will also send out reminders a few times during the survey window to get everyone on board.

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences.
