Principal Letter || Sept 18, 2020

Questions Answered || Our first Principal Coffee of the year took place on Tuesday, Sept 15. Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend! With a possible re-entry date of October 5th in a hybrid model, parents had lots of questions and concerns, and although I had something prepared, this first meeting was more of a Q & A session. Here are some examples of questions:

When can we return to on site learning? Oct 5 is still the tentative date.

Is there a site safety plan in place? Yes, it has to be confirmed by MCOE and I will then share with the community.

When are the iPads for TK-1st grade coming? Apple announced that iPads are on back order. On Thursday we were informed that they had shipped to NUSD, and as per the NUSD I.T. department, they should (hopefully) be available for all TK-1st grade students within the next 10 days.

A few parents expressed concerns for their child’s social-emotional well-being and would like opportunities to have small group meetings with teachers on campus. This cannot happen at present, however, PTA and room parents will try to arrange breakout rooms and zoom gatherings for kids, while complying with NUSD’s Volunteer Policy.

Once there is an established and official re-entry date, I will hold a virtual meeting for the community to share the Site Safety Plan as well as the schedules and procedures that will be put in place to ensure everyone’s safety and well-being. Many families struggle with the uncertainty of the flexible in-person model and school re-entry. Please do not hesitate to contact me so that we can discuss your concerns and address your questions.

PG and E Service Disruption || We received notice that there will be NO electricity at our PV campus and some homes in the surrounding area on Sept 23 from 8:30-3PM. The office will be closed on that day, and teachers and staff will work from home. Note that it may also impact some of our students’ ability to participate in lessons if their power will be out as well. Parents, please let us know if your child is unable to participate due to a power cut. The District has been informed and may push more info out to the community.

Happy Birthday, Sara Kram! Today we celebrated Mrs. Kram’s birthday in the library… A bit of that old PV community spirit! We love you, Mrs. Kram!

Michael Katz Virtual Assemblies are taking place next week! Michael Katz is a brilliant storyteller whose tales have a message for everyone. Be sure to join your children on this Zoom and have a listen. Many thanks to PTA for supporting this event!

For those of you celebrating the Jewish holiday, Rosh HaShanah, Shana Tova! May it be a sweet, healthy and peaceful year.

Have a safe and happy weekend!

Sincerely,

Dana Sadan,
