February’s  Family Science Night was a wonderful evening of discovery and exploration. It was a fun community event and was very exciting to see so many families engaged in science. Our presenters included:
  • Lawrence Hall of Science in the MPR with tons of activities and experiments to engage families
  • Nick Williams (PV parent and STEM teacher extraordinaire at SMHS) brought catapults into the classroom and kids explored how different variables impacted the height and distance of projectiles
  • PV parent and Marine Biologist, Doreen Gurrola, led a Marine Life presentation, demonstrating how pollution – particularly plastic – impacts the ocean, and had lots of hands on artifacts for kids to touch and feel.
  • Mr. C. brought his zoo of geckos, bearded dragons, snakes and tarantulas for families to handle and touch while he explained their habitats and behaviors
  • Playwell brought cartons of Legos and motors, and kids built moving vehicles.

Thank you to all of our fantastic presenters and to the wonderful San Marin High School volunteers who assisted at the event. A very special thank you to Danelle Block, Judy Barrera, DeMaur Herrera, Erin Chase, Clay Jones, Julie Ramser, Michelle Robertson, Liz Nelson, Tina Stone and Julie Spaan for their help in coordinating and assisting at the event.
