Fifth graders departed for Alliance Redwoods on Tuesday, April 17 and returned to school on Friday, April 20. It is always an exciting and emotional event to witness them leaving the campus. The commotion of dropping off and loading up equipment, meeting their friends and drivers, and setting off for their adventure heralds the beginning of the end of their time at PV. They have really grown up so much by this time, and, like fledglings, they are eager to try out their wings and leave the nest. I was lucky to be able to visit the camp for a few hours on Wednesday and was impressed and moved by their courage, tenacity, and kindness towards each other. They arrived back at school on Friday tired, happy, and successful… It was a hero’s journey for them and an incredible opportunity.

Thank you to the marvelous parents who chaperoned, guided, and mentored the kids, and a HUGE thank you to Tina Stone, Liz Nelson, DeMaur Herrera and Amanda Davis for everything!
